Captain George Conger began ihs military career in Vermont's Ransome Guards in 1856, and saw action at the Battle of Bull Run and Culpepper Court House. In retirement, he led the pursuit of Confederate bandits to Canada during the St. Albans Raid of October 1864. His ceremonial sword, missing for over a decade, has been returned to the museum by his family. This homecoming and reception is on the 154th anniversary of the Raid. A brief dedication, remarks and light refreshments are planned. The museum will be open for tours afterward.
